For in vitro quantitative determination of PSA in serum .
CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein synthesized by prostate tissue and secreted by prostatic epithelial cells.It is degraded by trypsin-like proteases before leaving the prostatic lumen to become an active PSA.About 85-90% of the PSA in the serum is bound to protease inhibitors, known as binding type (c-psa), and about 10-15% is in the free form, known as free prostate-specific antigen (f-psa).PSA is specific to target organs, and the serum PSA concentration of prostate cancer patients is significantly increased, so the detection of serum PSA has been recognized as the first choice for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.The early sensitivity is between 40-75%, and the middle and late stage can be as high as 75-95%. Therefore, it has certain clinical value in the diagnosis and course monitoring of prostate cancer.
ASSAY PRINCIPLE
The PSA in the sample reacts with the anti-human PSA antibody in the buffer to form an immune complex.The turbidity is proportional to the concentration of PSA.
